For over 40 years, the BMW GS has been paving the way for adventure riders around the world, with a combination of on-road and off-road capabilities that BMW has honed into a highly capable multitool of a motorcycle. The latest model, the R 1300 GS, is new for 2024, and is a significant redesign of the venerable model, albeit with the spirit of the GS still intact.
Sporting a new engine and transmission configuration, the layout is still the famous GS boxer twin, but now with an underslung transmission and more power than any previous GS. The new R 1300 GS promises increased performance and lighter weight, which is music to the ears of any motorcycle enthusiast. With that in mind, premium exhaust manufacturer Akrapovič has released its new exhaust system for the newest GS, with performance, looks to improve on the already impressive capabilities of BMW’s benchmark adventure bike.
The Slovenian company’s Slip-On Line (Titanium) exhaust for the R 1300 GS capitalizes on Akrapovič’s years of experience working with the GS line, as well as their world-class design, testing, and manufacturing capabilities that have produced exhaust systems for MotoGP, WorldSBK, MXGP, IMSA WTSC teams, and discerning customers around the globe.
Constructed of lightweight titanium, Akrapovic has had an in-house material laboratory, so the company can ensure outstanding quality and consistency of the manufacturing process from beginning to end. Along with a beautiful handmade carbon fiber end cap, this allows the exhaust to be 9.3% lighter than the stock exhaust, no small feat when the BMW exhaust is already well designed.
The double-flow muffler is engineered for enhanced sound silencing, delivering a full, deep exhaust sound without excessive noise. Akrapovič exhausts are known for their sophisticated sound characteristics, and this system delivers without unnecessary environmental impact.
Performance is enhanced as well, which is not an easy accomplishment with a slip-on muffler versus a full system. Back to back dynamometer runs taken against a stock BMW exhaust system on its in-house dyno reveal power and torque increases of 1.9 horsepower and 4.5 Nm of torque. These gains come at 7,600 and 2,300 RPM, respectively. The exhaust is plug-and-play, with no computer remapping required, is compatible with BMW Motorrad’s side cases, and is also EC/ECE approved.
A profiled surface on the muffler is a new feature that adds strength and durability, and combines with engraved Akrapovič logo for a refined, high-quality finish. The R 1300 GS Slip-On Line (Titanium) comes in a titanium finish or in black, depending on the customer’s preference.
To create a premium product such as this, Akrapovič relies on its advanced design, testing, and manufacturing facilities in Slovenia. Along with the titanium foundry, it has a metallurgical laboratory, durability dyno, and the factory has quadrupled in size since 2010. Founded by Igor Akrapovič in 1991, the company found success in racing, expanded into automobile exhaust systems, and today has around 1,800 employees.
Creating an exhaust for an iconic motorcycle such as the newest BMW GS that improves upon the performance and weight and changes the appearance and sound of the stock system can only be done with the experience, expertise, and advanced facilities Akrapovič possesses. Building on its years of experience producing exhausts for the previous GS models, the company is able to exceed the expectations of the discerning BMW adventure rider. The new R 1300 GS promises improvements across the board, and Akrapovič’s new exhaust system follows suit.

Decent bike, great for what it's meant to be. Could use a 6th gear to make it more well rounded.
