Edelbrock Carb Return Spring Assist

Agent2

A lot of guys running Edelbrock carbs have a problem with a high idle. One cause of this is the return spring being too weak.

This modification is inexpensive, and takes about five minutes to install.

I bought a "Bag Of 101 Springs" at a local hobby shop for a couple of bucks. After finding the correct size, I attached one end to the accelerator pump linkage and the other end was zipped tied to the frame. I glued a small piece of mousepad under the frame to prevent the spring from moving around. The accelerator pump linkage does not rotate, so wear to the spring or linkage should not be a problem.

After installing this spring, my carb now "snaps" shut when letting off the gas.

This mod was done on a Honda XR650R, but with minor tweaking will probably work on other models.

Special thanks to Dafna for her help taking and posting photo's.

      Hello all!
I'm getting tired of replacing the duct tape on my winter commuter.
Am more of a function-guy rather than form, but this looks just too bad.
After some 30 years (it's a 1988 NX650) the nylon cover is cracked as well as discoloured and worn.
Can you replace the cover as a DIY-project at all?
I've never done anything like this before.
Are there any gotchas' when doing a seat cover replacement?
      Anything I should know?
I could of course leave it to a professional, but this is a cheap bike. I couldn't possibly justify a USD 200-400 job on this beater.

Up for sale is a 2003 Honda crf 230 with lots of awesome parts and modifications. It has: CR 85 front forks, all new plastics, brand new tires (front and rear), crf450 pegs, big brake kit, bbr pipe, rev box, performance jetting, Applied triple clamps,  electric start, lots of spare parts too. This bike is awesome on the track, trails, and pits. Great bike for women and novices not quite ready for a big bike or 85 two stroke. You won't be disappointed with the handling or power! Has spent most of its life sitting in a garage drained of gas. Text or email me with any questions (using code word "ride red") or to schedule a time to come check it out!

Hands down the nicest 00 or 01 you will find in the South East. These bikes are quite rare these days, especially in this condition. This era of cr250s were the best Honda produced, do some research!

This bike has been virtually completely rebuilt, runs like a beast, and looks incredible .Just about everything that could be cleaned, greased, and polished has been. I have a binder full of receipts and information and numerous spare parts to go along with the bike.

Below is a list of parts, service, and modifications that have been done on the bike 2 hrs ago (probably forgetting some):

Trades for 2014+ KTM 350sxf or 2009 CRF250 only, if texting or emailing I will not respond unless you use code-word "Woody". Will drive 75-100 miles to meet or deliver up to 200mi for a fee. No Title, just Bill of Sale. Not in a hurry to sell, too awesome of a bike to let go for cheap. Price is FIRM.
