Fix OEM Plastic Radiator Guard

general disaray

Hello there.

I know these are cheap to replace but if you are like me every dollar saved is a dollar you can spend somewhere else.

I had one side that was very warped blocking about 25% airflow over the radiator not to mention looked bad.

1) Make sure your wife is not home (she may not like this)

2)Preheat your oven to 350.

3) Use something on the metal to insulate the grate against the plastic.

4) Insert the guard for 3-5 min

5) USING GLOVES, remove the guard from the oven focus on one spot at a time and hand mold the guard back into the proper shape.

You may need to do it more than once to get it perfect or get all the different issues fixed

Viola! Back in shape!

The Emperor Racing Pipe Guard Skid Plate for ’17-19 KTM, Husqvarna is the best skid plate/pipe guard combo available on the market today.  With a 3/16” thick aluminum construction, hand Tig welded wings (full length both sides) with a Emperor logo carved into each side for the bling factor, aluminum mounting brackets and high-grade metric fasteners, you simply can’t go wrong.  But now we have made it even better by offering a pipe guard version for all the 2 stroke fans out there.  It still has all the standard extras like 1/4″ thick x 3/4″ wide foam tape to place between the frame and skid plate for a nice snug fit that will eliminate any possible vibrations, a block of open cell foam is also supplied to place between the skid plate and the engine to reduce the build up of material between the skid plate and engine case.  This is the perfect product for the hard core 2 stroke loving off-road rider.
Manufactured out of high grade 3/16″ aluminum makes the emperor heavy duty skid plate arguably the strongest skid plate available now with an extended front that protects the 2 stroke exhaust pipe
Exhaust guard does not touch the pipe in anyway so all impact stresses are transferred back to the frame not the engine case
Extra middle mounting bracket to help support the exhaust guard
Both side and bottom protection against impact
4 bolt front mounting stops mounting brackets from bending when skid plate takes a hard impact (most models)
No need to remove skid plate to change oil
Snug fit spacers make this skid plate quick and easy to install
Front vented mud guard (helps to keep the mud out)
Foam tape to put between the frame and skid plate for a nice snug vibration free fit
Open cell foam to put between the skid plate and engine case
Emperor scorpion engraved in each wing for some bling factor
Optional plastic liner to mount to the bottom for better sliding
Weight: 6lbs/2.7kgs without slip liner 7lbs/3.2kgs with slip liner
      Made in Canada
      Available for:
      Stock/ FMF Fatty pipe
      FMF Gnarly pipe
      KTM ’17-’18 250/300 SX/XC/XCW/TPI & ’19 250/300XCW-TPI

This Sharkfin was constructed to keep debris from destroying your rear brake disc. Being made of 3/8 thick billet 6061 aluminum you get superior protection with minimal weight gain.
