NEW Supermoto Machine Added in Husqvarna’s

2017 Stirring Motorcycle Line-Up

June 20, 2016 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – At the leading edge of supermoto motorcycle development, Husqvarna Motorcycles is pleased to unveil the all-new 2017 FS 450 – a drastically revamped supermoto machine offering a notable leap forward in terms of technology and performance.]

Carrying Husqvarna’s World Supermoto Championship winning pedigree into the future, the new FS 450 features updated and top-of-the-line componentry, further advances in engine management and a fresh design that stays true to Husqvarna’s heritage. Combining state of the art technology with unparalleled on-track performance the all-new FS 450 ensures supermoto racers and riders alike have the perfect machinery to achieve their goals.

What’s new for 2017
Reaching new heights in terms of suspension technology the 2017 FS 450 is equipped with WP’s revolutionary AER 48 forks. Offering progressive and consistent damping characteristics, the new split air forks are 1.66 kg lighter than their predecessors. They also offer unprecedented ease of access for adjustment, with the necessary air pump provided as standard. The CNC-machined triple clamps allow the fork tubes to flex under load. For 2017 the upper triple clamp has a new design to perfectly match the characteristics of the new forks. A new set of aluminium engine mountings further improves suspension functionality while reducing the overall weight.

The FS 450 features a new handlebar map switch, which allows the rider to modify the engine characteristics in the blink of an eye. Optimised for easy operation, the switch allows selection between two different engine maps and also activates launch control for maximum traction at every start. Taking a big step forward the 2017 FS 450 introduces a revolutionary traction control system, which can also be engaged via the new map switch. Analysing a series of parameters the system is able to modify the amount of power delivered to the rear wheel ensuring maximum traction in all conditions.

True to the brand’s Swedish roots the bike features a minimalistic but striking design with the new model getting new graphics. Added to the low-profile, high-grip seat cover tailored to deliver superior control and comfort, the advanced
ergonomics allow riders to perform at the highest level for extended periods of time.

Attention in every detail
Crafted by WP Performance Systems the hydro-formed chromium molybdenum frame of the FS 450 delivers superior handling and manoeuvrability. Showcasing pioneering innovation Husqvarna continues to feature a composite subframe, made from 30% carbon fibre. As well as being incredibly strong it weighs only 1.4 kg.

Offering optimal stiffness at the least possible weight, the cast aluminium swingarm is another mark of exceptional quality. The swingarm is connected to a high performance WP DCC rear shock with specific supermoto set-up providing advanced traction and bump absorption.

A set of black 16.5”/17” Alpina spoked wheels are matched with Bridgestone’s 125/80 R420 and 165/65 R420 slick tyres for maximum grip and agility. Precisely positioned inlet ducts in the airbox prevent air deformation, ensuring maximum airflow and performance. The air filter is made by Twin Air and can be easily accessed without tools. The ODI lock-on grips come together with a unique throttle assembly offering easy free-play adjustment and the ability to alter throttle progression. Finally, the 7-litre polythene tank and the ProTaper handlebars with its new mounting clamps further ensure the 2017 Husqvarna FS 450 among the most sophisticated supermotos on the market.

Maximum performance guaranteed
Setting the benchmark in terms of performance, the new FS 450 features the most powerful 450 cc supermoto engine ever developed by Husqvarna. Designed to be smaller and faster at processing data the engine is controlled using a Keihin Engine Management System which also integrates launch control, selectable engine maps and the new traction control for 2017. Together with the gear sensor, the EMS is capable of correctly tailoring power delivery for each gear. The throttle cables are mounted directly to the Keihin 44 mm throttle body without the use of a linkage making throttle input more direct and response more immediate. Delivering the best possible performance while complying with the FIM noise limits, the FS 450’s exhaust features an integrated resonance chamber in its header pipe. An APTC slipper clutch prevents rear wheel hopping when braking hard, with the Magura hydraulic system ensuring perfect clutch modulation.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Rally Star Earns Third Overalll at the 2018 Edition of the Event in Morocco
April 20, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Determined to wrap up his week-long adventure in Morocco on a high, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Pablo Quintanilla has topped the fifth and final stage of the Merzouga Rally to secure a solid third overall in the event’s final overall standings. Continuing to make progress Andrew Short has claimed a spot inside the top 10 in the overall.
Featuring a mass, motocross-styled start in the dunes of the Merzouga Desert, the fifth and final stage of the event saw Pablo Quintanilla put in a dominant performance. Posting the fastest time for the day, the Chilean rally star solidified his strong third position in the overall standings.
Putting in his best individual stage performance Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Andrew Short crossed the line in eighth position. Wrapping up the Merzouga Rally 10th in the overall, the American is content with the progress he made during the week in Morocco.
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team will return to action at the third round of the 2018 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship, the Atacama Rally in Chile on August 11/19.
Pablo Quintanilla: “Today was a really fun stage. We had the motocross start and it was good to battle with the guys from start to finish. I got off to a good start but five or six kilometres into the stage I had a small crash that dropped me back a few positions. Then I had to push until the end and 10km before the finish I got the lead back and was the first to cross the finish line. It felt really nice to win a stage that way. Overall, I’m satisfied with my third position in the overall. This was a tough race with tricky navigation and to be on the podium is always good. We continue to gather experience and look ahead in the races to come.”

Andrew Short: “I really enjoyed this week in Morocco. Especially this last day was really fun, bringing back memories from my days racing motocross. Before the flag dropped the nerves were there and I was maybe a bit late off the start. It was a good experience racing alongside the fastest guys in the dunes and being able to see their pace. The adrenaline kicked in and I had some really good fun. Overall, the week has been great for me. I enjoy the atmosphere in rally racing and I feel I am improving, getting closer to the top guys. I might still have a long way to go but I understand it needs to be done step-by-step. This week was a positive step in the right direction.”

I own a 2013 TXC310, and would like to hear any suggestions to make it competitive in the hard enduro scene (specifically re-gearing).

Checking my valve clearances and trying to take out the cam chain tensioner. Seems the frame blocks the removal, if I just unscrew the unit as a whole, bring it out to give slack, can I then just screw it back in or do I need to reset the tensioner? Anyone have a way to get this out without removing the head?

KTM FACTORY RACING READY FOR WORLD ENDURO SUPER SERIES
      Enduro Announcement

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing are excited to officially unveil their four-rider line-up for this year’s inaugural World Enduro Super Series. Hard enduro specialists Taddy Blazusiak, and Jonny Walker will be joined by classic enduro experts Josep Garcia and Nathan Watson. FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Cody Webb also joins the team.
The World Enduro Super Series combines a mix of hard enduro, classic enduro as well as cross-country and beach racing events in a seven-round series run over the course of 2018. WESS offers a new challenge to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team and will provide a true test of skill, stamina and adaptability.

Opening with the Extreme XL Lagares hard enduro in Portugal on May 11-13, each of KTM’s five official riders will bring their own unique skills set to the new series. All hoping to excel in their specialist events, in the races in which they have less experience the focus is very much on rising to new challenges. Only at the climax of the season will the ‘Ultimate Enduro Champion’ be crowned.

Multiple world champion Taddy Blazusiak cites the WESS as the main reason for his return to competition. The Erzbergrodeo winner sees the WESS as a stand-out title he’d like to add to his already glowing CV. Taddy narrowly missed out on claiming a seventh world title at the final round of the 2018 SuperEnduro World Championship and is more fired up than ever to win the World Enduro Super Series.

Taddy Blazusiak: “I believe the WESS is what enduro needs at the minute to progress as a sport. I am really excited about the championship and I am really looking forward to the start of it. To be honest, I like every single event on the calendar. They are all unique and very special and from the first to the last race I think it is going to be really good fun. Part of the biggest challenge is going from the SuperEnduro series straight into the outdoor races and then having to adapt to all the different styles of events. My ultimate goal is definitely to do all I can to win the World Enduro Super Series, that’s why I am back racing. I really believe I have a shot at it – I am going to do everything I can to make it happen.”

Experienced hard enduro rider Jonny Walker is another with his eye on the WESS title. The former Erzberg winner is as at home racing on a beach as he is in extreme conditions. An excellent all-rounder, Jonny is highly-motivated ahead of the new championship start.

Jonny Walker: “I’m really looking forward to the start of the World Enduro Super Series. It’s a new challenge for everybody and should make for some really good racing. To be honest, I’m not looking forward to just one race either, I’m looking forward to the full series. We have Erzberg and Romaniacs, which I have done before, but there’s also a few races like Le Trefle and the Red Bull Knock Out beach race which pose new challenges. I think to win the series, consistency will be key. I have a lot of learning to do, but my goal is to try and win as many races as possible and hopefully be in a good place come the final rounds of the series.”

2017 Enduro2 World Champion Josep Garcia has spent the off-season focusing on the WESS and the different styles of riding required to excel in the series. Previously Garcia’s training would consist solely of special test enduro and motocross practice, with hard enduro now added to the Spaniard’s calendar Josep has been spending a lot of time on his KTM 300 EXC TPI, to familiarize himself with terrain synonymous with some of the world’s toughest offroad races.

Josep Garcia: “The World Enduro Super Series will be a massive new challenge for me. There are a lot of different races, sand races, extreme and classic enduro. It’s going to be a very interesting year. It will be difficult, but my goal is of course to win. I believe that with the right training and if I can gain some knowledge from my more experienced team-mates, I will be in with a chance. I really enjoy the technical riding and I have been putting a lot of work in. It will be interesting to see if it has all paid off come the first race in Portugal.”

Nathan Watson’s background in motocross and beach racing sees him as one of the favorites to take the win at the final round of the WESS, the Red Bull Knock Out in the Netherlands. Similar to team-mate Garcia, it will be the hard enduros that pose the biggest challenge to the young Brit. Following two years of riding classic enduro Watson knows where his strengths lie and where he needs to concentrate his training.

Nathan Watson: “I’m really excited to be a part of the World Enduro Super Series. It’s going to be a big challenge for all of us as it’s made up of so many different types of enduro. I know the extreme races will be tough for me, I have never done one before but I know what to expect. I have been doing a lot of specialist training, so hopefully it will pay off. Of course, the event I’m looking forward to the most is the final round – the Red Bull Knock Out. I love beach races, I have ridden beach races all my life so I am really confident in the sand and it has to be one of my favorite types of terrain. I think the winner of the whole series will be the rider who makes the most of his strengths, while minimizing his losses – hopefully that can be me.”

FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Cody Webb recently added the 2018 SuperEnduro World Championship to his 2017 Endurocross title. On form and ready to take on the WESS challenge, the former trials rider is looking forward to contesting the different styles of events but is aware of the size of the task ahead of him.

Cody Webb: “The World Enduro Super Series is a whole new thing and I’m really excited to be a part of it. It’s going to be really crazy doing all these different events, you’ve got classic enduro, extreme, beach races – it’s going to really help me branch out and widen my abilities. With the WESS, there are so many different types of riding, but fortunately riding for KTM, I have got a great choice of machinery for all the different disciplines we will ride during the series. For the extreme stuff I think I will be riding the new KTM 300 EXC TPI 2-stroke, but for the classic enduros I will probably stay on the KTM 350 EXC-F. On the beach I think I will be riding the KTM 450 EXC-F – I’m a decent sized guy so I need all the power I can get. I can’t wait to get started and hopefully by the end of the year I’ll have a chance at taking the title.”

The first round of the World Enduro Super Series is Extreme XL Lagares, Portugal on May 11-13.
