Redrawn Honda XR650L Wiring Diagram

Artrider

I bought a 1995 XR650L a couple weeks ago, and after seeing the wiring diagrams that were available online, I decided to create a more user-friendly version. If you see any errors, let me know.

FYI, I will update this graphic as I make edits.

Thanks

Note - Once I get this finalized (I've already made a few minor changes since I put this up), I'll post it as a high-resolution 11x17 pdf (assuming that's allowed on this system).

Looks great!

The isolated diode near the neutral switch might need reversing.

Safeties isolated in a simplified schematic-

Thanks for drawing that.  I don't know why the manufacturers can't generate a color version like that.  Much harder to make mistakes on wire colors than when trying to distinguish Bk from Bl from Br.

I have a 1979 xl185s that ran when I bought it. Soon after, it threw the timing chain so I had to pull it all apart and pull the motor. I replaced the timing chain and put it all together and now, only get 1 spark then the kill switch or key are OFF. If it is on,  I get nothing but when I turn it off I get one small spark and none after that. I am really stumped here and I need some help. Thanks,
      Chris

      Evening Guys,
There has been a few discusions on this topic now but I'm struggling to find and exact answer and keep get given different suggestions
I have just purchased a 2004 CR 125, are the CRF wheels interchangable? From what I gather the rear wheel is from 02-13, but I'm struggling to find an answer about the front wheel and an exact answer on whether the rotar etc will need changing
      Thanks

Hello all I'm new here to the forum and I'm looking to solve an issue I'm having on my '82 XL80S.
I've had this bike since I was 12 so I have a pretty fond attachment to the thing or I may have caught it on fire by now!!!
It wasnt running when I started restoring it a few weeks ago, turned out to be the crank key sheered off....replaced with a homemade one (Honda woodruff on its way) and it fires up first kick 100% of the time, timing correct, new points, new (Chinese carb), cleaned out fuel line and blew out valve, new aftermarket coil and new spark plug, valves set to .002
The issue is that it will NOT rev up, if throttle is held from 1/4 to 1/2 for longer than a few seconds it will backfire out of the carb. It bogs and the idle screw on the carb does nothing for the rpm except it'll die when going too rich.
It does seem to smoke a fair amount but it only has 800 miles on the speedo!! Although I'm sure that muffler is loaded with all manner of crap.
It also have some kind of pcv system. It has a plug on a hose near the bottom of the frame that let out a really nasty looking lump of sludge and oil so I'm starting to suspect maybe it's clogged up somewhere.
So can someone point me towards what may be causing this issue? I must be missing something, also I haven't replaced the condenser yet but I do have a new one. Thanks in advance everyone!
