New bike suspension adjustments

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this, I have a 2013 wr450f and would like to adjust the suspension to my weight (about 175) I am no suspension expert but the bike feels like it could handle a lot better. Suggestions?

I think you'll need to be a little more specific to get any help.

Adjust rear spring preload to achieve 4" of suspension use (sag) with you on the seat.

That's typically the first thing.

Your Owner's Service manual goes over suspension setup and tuning, too.

Yep. Do something crazy,,,read your manual.

Well "crazy" me doesn't have the book on hand, which would be my reasoning for turning to forums for some assistance.

What would you guys like for more specifics? The bike is bone stock at the moment.

I do not need to buy a book, I have a book. Just so happens its in a differant state. I'm just looking for some simple guidelines/tricks to get my suspension a little more tuned in for the time being

Set your sags. Nothing works until you have the proper sag. That requires proper springs for your weight. Then google "Bruces Suspension" for tuning/setup tips.
