Rocky mountains middle of winter

Recommended Posts

Just got back from our annual winter Brule dune trip so I thought I would post some pics. This is one of my favorite spots due to the fact I can ride it almost all year round even though the entire province is blanketed in snow and the temps are sub zero. Don't be mistaken, this is in the Rocky mountains in Canada and it's cold and there is snow here. Fortunately enough the winds blow the sand over top of the snow creating an almost prime location to ride in the winter. You must be cautious though, this place is booby trapped with hidden drifts of snow and ice. The tops of the dunes in spots are also like pavement. Personally, I like the challenge!

Sweet...I had no idea that it was that rideable this time of year! I think I'll have to check that out, thanks for posting.

No problem. You need to watch the forecast for brule a week prior and make sure it is either warm or windy. Out of the 4 times I`ve been to brule in the winter, 3 times were perfect condition but 1 of those times there was a couple inches of snow on certain sides of the dunes. We still rode all day though.
