Keihin PWK 38 A/S on Beta 300

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a 38mm A/S with JD jet kit that I took off my CR when I sold it.

Should I / could I slap it on the 300?

You could, but you will lose the bottom end snap. I would keep it for applications such as sand dunes and wide open stuff. Not the best choice of carb for hard core single track…..

That's what everybody was putting on their Husky WR's, for the reason of more bottom but a smaller carb will be better for bottom end, I got my stock TMX jetted great for bottom end just more finicky at elevation but that doesn't concern 2t Beta owners ;)

How about just jump on the "Smart Carb" bandwagon like all the KTMTalk guys are doing? According to this thread the stock carb sucks:

It's actually quite a bargain. Just 775.00 for a chunk of metal that has to be "pre ordered".

Holy crap! What bike do you have it on? Is it worth the money?

Have it on my 165 husky and will put it on my Beta 300 when it gets here.

Is worth it? That up to you.

I will say this I have been a mechanic for 30 years and feel I can tune a 2 stroke about as good as it gets. I have spent an amazing amount of time tuning motorcycles, cars and just about everything else and you will never get a regular carb this good.

I didn't notice much more power but the best word I can think of is "seamless". It doesn't have the circuit overlap that I find on a standard carb. Just very smooth power from bottom to top.

If you are a good tuner you may not think it is worth it but for the average guy that hates to mess with his carb it will be worth every penny.

If you are going to spend money on your bike.

1 suspension

2 smart carb

The rest doesn't matter.

Just my 2cents.
