JD programmer worth it?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2013 KTM 500 XC-W it has the EU map installed and runs pretty good but I would like to buy a programmer to help make it not run so lean and hot! So I was wondering if anyone else has purchased one and if it's worth the money and what it has helped your bike do. Would really appreciate feedback!

I have one on my '13 500 exc. it's improved the throttle responce and smoothed out the acceleration. Before the tuner it had a slight hesitation and just didn't seam right. I desmoged the bike first and this made a huge differance. Then installing the JD tuner made another big improvement. I don't know what it will do for your XCW but its sure to help. Fully adjustable a and well worth the $200. Now it's to install the rekluse! It should arive today.

I have the EU EXC map loaded on my '12 350 EXC-F, and it is not lean at all. In fact, it appears to be slightly rich, based on the amount of carbon I see inside the pipe. It starts easily, and runs cleanly all the way through the powerband. From what I have read, some people have had trouble getting the map changes to "take", so you might want to make sure that the map you loaded is still there.

If you're running lean on the 500 with the EU map then you either need to replace the filter or clean the injector. Check your FP pressure while you're at it.

KTMPete, have your dealer install the xcw or the EU map, the stock map is too lean.
