Busted case. How does this one happen?

I remember sometime back reading about a few instances of this happening

it backfires on the start up, rotates the crank backward with the kicker ratchet still engaged. The force of the engine firing backward over rotates the kicker back and it blows the case up.

Ouch, ive had some kickback on me and thought it snapped my shin lol. But luckily it was never that bad. I would be sick

Exactly what shawn said. I have seen this happen on quite a few built motors. People get in the habbit of blipping the throttle wile kicking it over to try and get it started and it will back fire and can crack the cases.
