What tires to use?

I am looking to get a new rear tire. Any suggestions for a good durable tire for the woods. I tend to ride in a lot of rocky areas with a lot of hills. I ride a crf450r

I would recommend a trials tire.

Pirelli MT16rear with Bridgesone M59 front or set of MX ExtraX tires if you ride some sand as well.

Another vote for Maxxis IT's . Been running them for the past 10 years. Very impressed as far as an awesome all around "compramise" in all types of terrain. The Maxxis' are excellent as far as longevity too. Good value, Maxxis tires are not expensive respectively to other brands.

I have a maxxis sx tire its pretty good and i ride allot of rocky trails. the durability is pretty good. good luck

I've had these on for about a month now, not too bad of a tire, they were a PAIN to put on if you are putting them on yourself. I might try MX51's next. The maxxis do their job though.

Bridgestone M404 will last longer than the Dunlop MX51, in my experience they have about the same traction.

Or

If you don't wont to spend 80 bucks on a tire try the Artrax TG4 or SX2. Some complain that they are hard to mount, but i haven't had any issues. and for 45 bucks they are worth a try.

Its funny because I just took a look and my bike has an mx51. It is a really nice tire and I don't have any complaints but I think I am going to try the desert next

I'm a desert guy and I seem to shred the MX51's... if I could afford a new MX51 every race, then I would stick with it because the traction is awesome! I'm on this forum to see what tire I should get. Probably going to end up getting a Maxxis IT. It looked like a lot of the Katoom guys were running them without issues at my race last weekend. I'm on a 2013 CRF450R.

I've grown a lot of admiration over the past years for Maxxis IT's . They are a fantastic "all around" tire on all terrains. The Maxxis' also have awesome longevity. Very reasonably priced compared to many currrent Dunlops and Bridgestones
