TTR125 Timing Chain Adjuster Noise.

I did a search but my search-fu stinks.

We have a TTR125L (2000 model) I bought for my wife. I completely rebuilt this bike with new lower end bearings, new transmission, new piston, rings, cam, timing chain, cam gear, valve seals, etc.

It makes a loud ticking noise. I originally thought it was the valves but I have triple checked and they are adjusted properly. If I removing the bolt and hold a screwdriver on the timing chain adjuster and turn it over by hand it doesn't click. If I let go of the screw driver it clicks. Before I order a new one I just wanted to see if anybody else had this issue and if others agree it's the adjuster that is at fault.

Thanks!

Sounds like the adjuster to me.

You can buy manual cam chain tensioners which are much better than the standard ones. Search eBay.

I ordered an OEM one yesterday but I like the idea of a manual adjuster. I'm still going to check those out now.
