Inserting bark busters screws causes throttle to stick

Recommended Posts

I put some new Acerbis bark buster inserts in to my throttle side and now its causing the throttle to stick whenever I tighten the inserts. Anyone ever experienced this? I have had the same bark busters (Acerbis mulit-concept pro) for a few years but just recently got new bar/screw inserts since I broke the last ones.

Here is a picture of the ones I have. 2-Kawasaki-KDX-200-Part-2-Build-7-19-11-Acerbis-Hand-Guards.jpg

Probably need to shave down the throttle tube more so that the bark buster only presses against the handle bars

Cut the throttle tube, slide it in a litle bit.

There problem solved.

Where's Captain Obvious when you need him? Either that or you are running the thinnest, cheapest bars known to man!

If you don't want to shave the trhottle, you can also just put a lock washer (I think it's a 5/8") and it's outside diameter is about the same as 7/8" bars. It will just space the bar-ends out a tad from the throttle.

I had that problem and it was a combo of the grip grabbing and over tightening the mount screw that goes inside the bars. Use tread lock and get them just tight enough to hold. Those were the stock bars I had the problem with. I have ticker fly racing ones now, no problem

My first thought was cracked bars. Only way I see those inserts increasing bar diameter. Don't think you could find a set of bars thin enough to expand when tightening the insert.
