Anyone got any leads on someone selling a nice motovan?

Recommended Posts

I don't have much input on motovans, but I do on fords. I drive an f-350 with the 5.4 for work. It has a steel service body on it with roughly 1000lbs worth of crap loaded into it.

It feels so grossly underpowered I drive it basically to the floor everywhere I go, I couldn't imagine what it would be like with a smaller motor, and don't even get me started on fuel mileage.

I feel like I'm driving a Ferrari when I hop into my personal dodge hemi. Granted it is a half-ton and my work truck is a one ton, but it really amazes me the difference.

All I have to say is don't go small on the motor, you will spend as much on fuel working the small motor to its limit versus running the big block at half power.

2003.

How do you like your 2003? There is a 2003 E250 with the 5.4, power windows/locks, 133k miles. I can get it in the 3k-4k range. Do you think that would be too many miles? Id be driving it to Florida from Colorado and back, so I want something thats reliable. Heres some pics of it. Also this is the only Van that is near me. Guy said hes had it for two years and loves it, but just needs something better on gas. Says its in excellent condition.

The point of a cage is so in a accident when your van goes from 60 to zero in about .2 seconds the bike in the back that now has about 5 tons of force, if not more, wont come flying into the back of your seat and crusing you or your passenger. Mobility be damned. Just tell your kids to stay in their seats for the trip.

This is a great start. The wall is where I put mine. Looks like this one has a nice finish panel kit in it. 3 to 4k seems like a pretty good deal dependent on how well they took care of it. Mine is white also with only one moto sticker. I put a chrome non step bumper on it to make it easier to load and unload both the dirt bikes and jet ski. My stereo is 2-200 watt amps and I have an eq that I run my iphone thru. I have 2 set ups for the front. I have a complete deck that comes up to the console and is about 14" off the floor that sits on plastic crates and is made of 3/4" plywood with carpet on it and the wall. My other set up is a set of 3-seats out of a jet liner that mounts to some ancra floor tracks. The deck is great for traveling,I set it up with a foam cushions and I usually snooze while the wife drives and she does the same. The seats are great when I have to haul people.

The black one's phone number is 660-641-2552. Guy is in Missouri i think.

Ill have to look through my emails for the 09 fords contact info. This guy is in Idaho if I recall.

Going to check out the 2003 ford e250 extended with the 5.4 with 130k miles for $3,000 after work today. Seems like a good deal if its in good shape. Figured im starting to get impatient, so this cheap one could settle me down, then I could be patient and wait for a STEAL to come along.

Got the ford today. Van is pretty awesome. Only negative things is the engine light is on, and the breaks squeek a little. Everything works great on it, brand new tires too. I was going to look at getting some tires and rims, the tires are for 16" rims, would it look alright with just 16" after market rims, or do I need 17" or 18"? The wall is constructed very sturdily. Think im going to ditch the gay stickers, clean it up, figure out some sort of back up camera, and get some rims and maybe tires, and find a seat. Any suggestions on seats? For my last van I pulled one from a dodge passenger van and it worked pretty easily, all the other vehicles I looked at had wierd mounting tabs and I had no clue how to make them work without some welding. Is there an easy way to mount a seat, that I could take out easily?

I kinda want to cut a piece of the wall away so I can get in the back from inside the motovan, maybe something like this:

Cool. But that wall doesn't look attached very well. I'm super anal about possibly being in a trash compactor in a wreck. You will find limited wheel options. I just got a set last month from Discount Tire and had my year old stock size Michelins mounted to them(no more lost hub caps).Any change in wheel/tire change will throw off your speedo and always make you wonder how fast you are really going. Back-up camera=waste of time and money, back first-then just pull away when you leave. I painted the insides of my back door windows black so they look tinted and I have limo tint on my side door glass as well as the factory pop out window out of a window van on the drivers side, dark legal tint up front. For seats in the rear before I got the airplane seats I had 2 factory captains chairs mounted to a 3/4" piece of plywood that I screwed down to the 3/4"plywood floor I put down. I could pull the seats out with no trouble at all.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice. The wall actually seems real strong, not sure how they did it. Im going to leave the wheels stock I think, where I live in Colorado I have to drive 4 hours to race, so I want my van to not stand out when Im at hotels. I agree with the back up camera, Im a guy, guys dont need that shit! When I finally get back to Florida I wont care. I mounted a bench/bed seat in it tonight:
