What maintenance to do?

Hi I am fairly new to motocross and have recently brought my first proper bike, well what I would call proper anyway. It's a honda cr250f 2008 and I was just wondering what maintenance need to be done and when, eg what needs to be checked/done every ride, every month, every year. I am planning to do the majority of it myself but is there things that would just be far easyer for a professional to do.

If you're really planning to do the majority of maintenance yourself, a service manual is going to be a good investment. I have a manual for my '11 and it's great to have since it takes all the guess work out. Download a copy from somewhere. I found mine on Tradebit.com

Like Andy0689 said, get a service manual. I ordered mine through rocky mountain. When I buy I bike I go through it all and grease everything front to back. That's also where the manual comes in you need torque specs. When changing the oil be careful not to overtighten the bolts and replace the washers every few oil changes. check the valves also. If you have mechanical ability and the book, you can do most all the work yourself...
