1998 rm 125 forks vs 2000+ rm 125 forks

Recommended Posts

hi, i have a 1998 rm 125 with conventional forks, and i wondered what the difference was with the newer bikes? the newer bikes have USD forks?

I mainly ride trails

i was wondering if USD forks would be better and would it be possible to do a conversion?

From everything I have heard (I have never ridden the later RMs with conventional forks) but the conventional forks work pretty good for off road use. I would just rebuilt/revalve the forks you have and they should be fine.

The conventional forks from this era were considered better in the woods than USD forks, so rebuilding what you have does make a lot of sense. Yes, you could swap your conventional forks for a set of USD forks, you would just need to get the entire front end (triples and wheel). Not sure of the year cut off for your frame so a set off of a 2000 is our only safe bet as far as I can tell. But again, it may not perform any better although it will definitely look newer.
