Recommended Posts

2 strokes have a power band that you can feel, 4 strokes don't really have a power band

The "power band" just refers to the RPM range in which the engine makes the most power compared the engines performance at the other RPM ranges. 2 strokes have a very distinguished powerband. It hits suddenly. Four strokes have a mellow powerband that comes on and signs off gradually. Both have powerbands, but 4 strokes make less power and they do it more gradually, so people just think that they don't have "powerbands".

Powerbands are not mechanical devices, they are RPM ranges that make the most power in different engines..
