'06 KX 65 oil amount - 500ml vs. sight window

Recommended Posts

I just bought my son a 2006 KX 65.

I changed the oil, plug and air filter immediately.

It says to put 500ml of oil in the engine case on an oil change. My only worry is that when I put this amount of oil in, I don't see it register in the sight window.

I'm tempted to continue adding oil until I see it reach the right level in the sight window, but wanted to see what others were experiencing and suggested.

Thanks!

Was the bike sitting level and straight? On these little bikes, the slightest lean from left to right will make sight glass empty or full. It needs to stand as straight up as possible. Besides, if you put in 500ml, like it calls for, then no worries. I've never heard of a case enlargement mod...LOL. 😉

Thanks guys. I ended up putting about 600ml of oil to get it to show in the sight window - made sure the bike was level.

Thanks again for the responses!

I have found on my KX100, that is takes a while for the transmission fluid to get to the sight window. I just kick it over a few times or run it up and down the block and that instantly distributes the transmission fluid.
