SP125 oil leak

Recommended Posts

Howdy, I didn't see an sp forum so I figured this was the next best place. I have an sp125 (82) with an oil leak, I got the stator bell housing off and found a small squareish channel to the lower right of the stator where the oil is leaking from (pretty quick) no cracks or anything that I can see, the channel goes in about an inch then turns upward. I'm wondering if there's a cap or plug that goes in there, or if there's something missing on the inside (maybe the wall broke inside to this channel. Let me know if any one has exp. with this bike and knows what I'm talking about. thanks.

The DR/SP 100-200 have a wet stator. Check carefully for cracks around the stator housing and use a gasket for reassembly

If you're in a pinch, 3 bond gasket maker works, but a gasket, even a home made one made from gasket paper, works far better.

A cereal box makes a decent gasket provided you're willing to take the time to cut it out.
