This is on a 87 kdx200... I am trying to tune it, but cannot find an air screw... Maybe I just have to keep trying diff jets to get it to run ok...

Idles ok, but rough till about 3/4 throttle then wammo, off you go.....Wide open it sputters also.....

Any advice is welcome........

Thanks......

When I got the bike the float lever was stuck and filled the engine w/ gas... I cleaned it all out and it doesn't do that anymore.....Will too high float level make it run like crap??    I tried to check the level, looking on youtube for procedures to check the level, and as far I can tell it seemed close.....

To adjust the float, do you just bend the tangs down???

Sorry for my stupidity on this, ........Bike has sat for years........

That carb is OLD!! It maybe worn out. Best solution would be a newer carb. But if that isn't an option, I guess. Does it have the duel round float that ride on a pin?

Make sure they don't sink in water. If one sinks and the other doesn't, it can make it hard to tune. But yes, bending the fingers will adjust the floats. Be careful that they are bent equally cause that can cause issues as well.

Looks a lot like the mikuni vm38 on my 79 yz400. It was also missing the idle screw and air screw when I got it. If it is indeed a Mikuni, just grab the manual from the mikuni site ( measure the bores and you can look up the model). Then get the part # for the screw. Tons of sellers on eBay and elsewhere.
