Rear shock pivoting?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is a total noob question - and if so then have at it! I have an 02 XR250R.  Looking at the rear shock and when i grabbed it i could move it back and forth (not up and down) about 1/2" inch.  Like it wasn't mounted tightly.  Is this right?  Should this be tight?

When you say "back and forth" do you mean you're able to twist it? Because that is normal. The top shock bearing is a spherical bearing. "Back and forth" implies front to rear.

If you can move the shock left and right, the bearing could be loose in the shock.

Yes, i meant to twist it.  Couldn't find the right words in the original post.  It is not front to rear. I guess this is normal.
