90 yz250 tranny issues

Recommended Posts

so the tranny in my poor pieced together yz has always had a subtle growl in the case and finally it has showed up

now when the bike is in neutral with the clutch lever out something in the gears drives forward. like it try's to be in some gear but is not. pull the clutch in neutral and is goes away but when the clutch is out the tranny pulls some.

anything I should know while splitting the case?

I have never heard of a problem like this before.

my thought was somehow 2 gears with smooth/flat backs are forced together somehow?

turns out that the output shaft bearing blew off a couple 1/4" pieces of the out race into the tranny. lol

easy fix and nothing else was damaged luckily.

i even ran it for a day to see what would happen. the tranny just got more and more dificult to shift and then would just jam up the shift lever. thats when i tore it open.
