Fuel Airbox help

A possible newb question but my air box has a very strong smell of fuel. Other bikes I've owned never had this smell unless i used fuel to clean the filter. Does anybody know if this is normal?

The same question just yesterday.  I guess it depends on what you mean by a strong smell.  The carb with gas in it is open to the air box so certainly some fuel smell is normal.  If the filter is wet with fuel or there is liquid fuel in the air box, that is not normal.
