2stroke or 4 stroke

Recommended Posts

Since no one here wants to give you a real answer, they're a real bunch of comedians  :moon:

The easiest way to tell is look at the exhaust pipe.

2 strokes have expansion chambers, big head pipes   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expansion_chamber

4 strokes have small header pipes  http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://ktmdirtquestions.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/head-guard.jpg&imgrefurl=http://ktmdirtquestions.com/review-ricochett-4-stroke-header-pipe-guard/&h=280&w=464&sz=25&tbnid=TYYlvVseZrhUnM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=149&zoom=1&usg=__-3AcqnD7hOY086G_lv4lqZoLvkQ=&docid=aYhGWdpkntxqaM&sa=X&ei=wLcmUqnPEMTAigL9voGQAg&ved=0CFwQ9QEwBw&dur=1779

More than likely your pit bike is a 4 stroke.

Everyone excep the one guy is being..... scumbags. Look at the exaust pipe, like he said. Pit bikes are pretty much always 4 strokes, and I honestly dont even think a two stroke would make it one ride without the 2 stroke oil. Since I started I might as well explain the difference if you care to know. 2 strokes do what four strokes do in two revaloutions opposed to four. They sound a lot different, a higher pitched noise with smoke coming out the exaust. Thay have this wicked thing called a powerband, which is basicly where all the power of the bike is hidden in high rpms. They tend to be lighter, and have better flickability. The 4 strokes moter is much more complex consisting of camshafts etc. etc. Making 2 strokes much easier and cheaper to work on. I could go on and on about differences but make sure you do routine oil changes, air filter cleanings and much more. Hope you took the time to read this and good luck with your pitbike there tons of fun.
