How about how many knobbies did you see? trials tires?...............   How about rekluse clutches??   ... It all depends on the terrain ridden..conditions..

Hey HDR, how come all the Hawaii guys take off or cut their sideplates? Is it a local style thing or for a purpose?

It's to have a grab handle.. you can grab the subframe or the pipe if you have to. leaving the number plates on force you to use the strap that guys put on  the seat (which isn't that good but better than nothing) or the rear fender .. that just doesn't work well at all. I have an animalhandles grab bar for my cr and I got a carry rack for my Beta so I didn't cut or take off my side plates. With my rack and animalhandles I have better leverage on the back of the bike too.  I don't care for the look of the no sideplates/trimmed sideplates but the main thing is that there's a good leverage place to move your bike when grabbing the subframe. I rather have more coverage with the sideplates on for mud/water too but on dry days it's no difference.

My 450 would have represented, yo. :prof:

What!!! no cr love!!! lol!!     Actually getting an electric start 2 stroke would be the way to go here..  or do some serious weight training and endurance training to bench press some four stroke action!!! It's hard enough pushing and carrying a 20 to 30 lb lighter 2 stroke in sections. The good thing would have been that this time the trails looked dry. Imagine all of that in the rain.

Oh I like the cr but when hills get that mean its time to break out the tractionator! It's a mx 450 and I weigh more than it still so I don't notice the weight.

OK, makes sense, Thanks eh

Have to agree on that one. 450 traction would be a big help on those hills. Probably worth the extra weight since most of the course looks loose. Gotta love the trials bike! lol.

Here's last year for comparison.. .  and maybe you can see more of what this years vids so far don't show as much of.  I guess when you video you just can get to certain areas that are closer and not get in   the deep parts.  Again this has been going on for 59 yrs. The top guys are going to be riding what works best. That's one of the reasons I'd like to see the top pro's to come...just to see how they might do it different or the same. I'm sure these champion trials riders turned endurocross/ extreme enduro riders ought to be incredible to watch... also our stuff is different so I'd like to see their approach to it.  Jimmy Lewis from dirtrider did it a few years ago on another dry year but the coverage was light...with just some commentary and a few pictures.  An extreme enduro race for ex. sponsored by Redbull would be awesome and interesting.
