What did you do to your Beta today ?

With a tip of the hat to a similar thread on the ADV forum, what did you do to yer beloved Beta today ?

 

I spooned on a fresh MT43 (yum !) and attempted to bump up to a 50 tooth in the rear. I was disappointed to discover the chain was not long enough to accommodate the 50 tooth :( - and had to revert to the heavily worn stock 48 tooth sprocket.

 

As my chain still has plenty o' life in it, I'll order me up a IronMan 48 tooth, and bump to the 50 when the chain needs replacin' .

Fresh MT16s, wow didn't realize how much those stock tires really sucked  :jawdrop: , FIM enduro rated tires for the first and last time ever :smashpc:

 

Also the renthal brake pads are worlds better than the nissans.

I checked by wheel bearings and am going to change the fork oil. Any recommendations? 

Also replacing the front brake pads.

I'll tell you what, the Race Tech oil is some really slippery stuff. Expensive but well worth the dough. If you have the 45mm Marzocchi's it takes about 600cc per leg or 100mm. As far as Brake pads I like the EBS Red Organic. Easy on the discs and great brake modulation. The drawback is that they don't last as long as the sintered ones.

Thanks Chris, They are 48 mm Sachs on mine. It would be nice to have an exploded view of them but can't seem to find one anywhere. I should be able to get some Race Tech oil from the suspension guy around the corner.

Bolted on a 50T rear to match to the new 13T front and Regina chain on my 250RR. Goldilocks gearing for the woods of Michigan - not too tight, not too loose, just right!

Not all advertised weights are the same. Find the same tested weight to brands so you don't need to reset your settings for the same performance.

Thank you,  but that file is for the Marzocchis.  I have Sachs forks. There is a bit of a service section in the bike manual, it would be nice to have something like the Marzocchi manual for them.

Cool, thanks that is basically the same except for the fork cap, and the rebound adjuster looks different. I hope mine did not have the little ball bearings in it because I don't see them now... :jawdrop:

Oil and filter change. Motul 300V 15-60, Transoil Expert. Checked air filter, went through all my bags, new rear tire Kenda Trackmaster 110/100-18, flipped front tire over Kenda Trackmaster 80/100-21, lubed chain, changed gearing from 14/48 to 13/48 for single track ride Saturday.

 

Ready for the next flogging!

Initial break in oil service, re sprung for my size and race tech gold valves. Cleaned air filter. Quick little rip around the lot and I was in awe. First bike I have ever had sprung for me and I will never own another bike without it being done. Tomorrow will be awesome. Rain most of the day

I went riding.  :ride:  We didn't go real hard but we didn't stop much..My buddy took his 01 cr 250 and I had my 09' 525 RS... 2 guys and we had a good rain so we were slipping around here and there and had  a couple of flops on some slippery hills. ..just picking up your bike can tire us out a little. I had a nice hand cramp driving home. ..but it was a great session.  10AM to 2PM..and not stopping much.. good one!! :thumbsup:

Got the bike back together today.

Fresh air filter, routed two up carb vent lines to filter in air box, used heat gun on IMS tank to get a little more fan clearance.

Ready to ride!

Trashed the shit out of mine today. Steep, massive, rock gardens. Flipped and launched the poor thing more times than I can count. As an added bonus I broke the right foot peg, banged up my sweet LEO Vince muffler and cracked the end cap. I was wondering how come my toes hurt so much at the end of the ride. LOL

 

I took this bagged up beast up some stuff that would have me crying on my 300. FWIW Even after flipping it and dropping it numerous times, it fired right up each and every time!

Good thing you had all those bags.. That probably protected the bike a little..   breaking off the footpeg!!!! OUCH!!!

      The do it all bike doesnt exist, I know that, but Im looking for something pretty damn near close to it. My dilema: I live in Mexico and It is one of the most biodiverse places you can possibly think of; I can ride at 12,000 feet between pines, the next day shred a desert, and the last day be in a tropical forest. Any thoughts on a bike that you may think can handle all of these relatively well?

      I have a '13 Beta Evo 4T trials bike that likes to backfire on deceleration, it's pretty annoying. Looking at the parts book, there is no gasket, o-ring or anything else that goes between the exhaust port and the headpipe. The  headpipe isnt deformed or damaged, nor is the sleeve at the exhaust port that the headpipe fits over. Does anyone else have the same problem? What did you do to fix it?

      I just picked up my 2018 Beta Evo 200. The dealer included a few things in the box, such as the owners manual CD, a liter of premix oil, the rest of a liter of tranny oil, and a horn and a speedometer.
      Why in the world do they included the horn and speedo? The horn looks to be barely worthy of a kid's toy car, and the speedo might work on a bicycle. Why not skip those two valuable parts and lower the price of the bike by a huge amount, say $5?
      Does anyone have a use for them?

      This is my first post so hopefully I have this in the right area.
      So I'm looking to buy a new bike in a few months and can't decide what Beta to buy. I am going between an xtrainer, a 300rr or the 390rs. I know they have slightly different areas that they excel. I am coming from a 1998 xr400 and an xr250. My question is do any of these new bikes I am looking at have good off idle torque, like slow speed tractor torque. Both my xr's could chug along and climb almost anything but they are heavy and getting older. I dabbled in trials for a bit so I really like the low end pull of thoses 2 strokes, but I also have had a few mx bikes that had nothing down low. What are the beta 2 stokes like. Also does the 390 have a pretty low first gear if I go the 4 stroke route. I ride some pretty rough single track in Georgetown ca if anyone is familiar with that. Lots of switch backs and no room to get speed over some of the obstacles. I am more of a technical rider, don't do much high speed stuff so I'm not to worried about the soft suspension of the xtrainer. 
      For backround I am 200 lbs, 6ft, I'm a decent rider but don't race or anything. I have had loads of Japanese bikes and I am wanting to try out a European enduro, this would be my first new bike. Hope the post isn't to long. Thanks
