My 714 grips came today... I gotta take off that boyesen shokout grip system left hand grip that is supposed to reduce vibration. That thing is shitty. I rode with it one time and it sucks. It’s coming off of my 350 race and these 714’s are going on. When I take off the shokouts I’ll spray some expansion foam in the bars for the hell of it.. just to see if I can notice any less vibration.

I wouldn't give a 2nd look to those grips for riding enduro. Big and fluffy, for enduro you need smaller possible and medium to soft compound to have a good grip without grabbing the bars too hard. I will be interested to your findings HDR since our riding may be some continents and seas apart but not that different.

Interesting.

Rain mode retards the spark?

Sort off...

Actually doesn't switch to the curve with the more advanced spark ignition for mud and high revs.

In general.

You know how it is. Things can be very very similar and also completely different from seemingly same size riders and styles but guys just ride different and their styles are different. Personal choice is varied. I’m just wondering... How do you hold your handlebars? What fingers do you use to pull your front brake and clutch? I hold on to my bars with my forefinger and thumb and use my outer fingers to pull clutch and brake. It’s just evolved since I was little and I couldn’t pull with my forefinger and middle finger when I was young.. . I see lots don’t hold onto the bars the same way. Some do too but it isn’t as common from what I can tell. I could start trying some other grips again too. Maybe I can find some other grips that might feel better now. Years ago I tried a bunch of different grips and kept going back to the 714’s and liking them best.  What grips do you like? And use? Maybe I could try those.

Ive used 714’s on my 15’ 300 rr almost since new and have them on my 525 rs for years before that. My hands are kind of big. Not small and not super huge. I use 3xl size fox dirtpaw gloves. Those are pretty reasonable price and fit right. I used a variety of grips on my cr 250 before. I hated the half waffle oury.

Now you got me thinking about looking and trying other models of grips..I’m not sure what most others are using these days. Pillow tops??

Aha....

Almost same size hands 2-3XL (should check some Moose gloves I have).

However I use index and middle finger for clutch and brake, both for riding in the dirt or in the street. If I would brake like Valentino using all fingers I would crash before every corner but he is experiencing much more negative acceleration than we can think off.

Anyway, irrelevant example as we would crash as soon as we would try to mimic GP guys.

I used to like the white ODIs (that CW was using) but quickly look like s@#t and are shot soon afterwards. Not expensive though. Now I am using Innteck Grey soft. Not as soft as the ODI but they last longer.

+1,  I really liked 714 grips on my XR650R, but have been happier with 737 grips on Beta.  Same gummy feeling, not quite as fat, more precise feeling, which better suits bike.  Still do long, long rides & don’t wish for a better grip.

I agree.  While the 714 grips are excellent and very comfortable, I also prefer the slightly narrower 737 grips which are also very comfortable.

Hmm ? and you like these way better than 714 pro grip..

Haven't tried the exact ones but I don't like big spongy grips as they make my connection to the bike vague.

Maybe they mask other problems like mediocre suspension, but personally I think that they remove control.

I don’t notice any lack of control. It feels actually comfortable and normal to me . I do think our opposite style of gripping the handlebars play a role in grip preference being different. Still I am open to revisiting trying different grips. It’s good to try different setups. All I know is I hate how the shokout boyesen grip system works for me. Those grips are smaller diameter and weren’t bad as far as the grips alone felt though. The very loose ability to twist the left side grip just felt wrong though. At least I tried it and I know now though.

You're right and I don't have experience with the pro grips that I can recall. I think many-many years back but I am not sure.

I could ride with everything, its only a matter of what I prefer.

Removed OI from my XT after some 250h. It have worked flawlessly but I can't find info about how long those pumps last and how I should service mine. Also I ride more aggressively now so that my crashes a bit more harsh. Started to worry oil tank or pump will broke free from impact forces.

Empty tank with pump weighted 530 grams. There was some dirt in the tank went tube. Also there was some dark particles in the oil I have drained from the tank. Not a large amount, but I dunno what size particle can seize the pump.

Removed top airbox cover (XT specific) while I was at that.

Removed airbox with the boot and cleaned it. There was quite a dirt in the hard to reach places that are hard to clean when OI tank and top plate are in place.

Here's another, "picked it up and brought it home post". I was going to get the 19, but Rosco inherited a brand new 18. And made me a deal I couldn't refuse. Bike is already in pieces in the garage getting a larger tank, hand guards, spark arrestor,  disc guards, pipe guard etc. More porn, I mean pics to come.

So is it an Italian beauty or an Italian stallion?
