Riding in norcal

Recommended Posts

Just getting back into riding after a 6 year layoff. Picked up an 07 wr450 and will be riding north of the sac area, Georgetown, Pipi, etc. Plan to do mostly trail riding with wife and son, but have buddies that do the d36 family Enduros so will be doing some of those too.

I've read a lot of good reviews about using trials tires, and was thinking of going with the IRC TR-11 on the rear and Dunlop D403 front. Maybe trying the tubliss system on the back. Does this sound like a decent combo for this area? Thanks in advance for any advice.

The trials tires work well in NorCal during the summer, now during the winter i would NOT run one. They work real well in the dry dusty stuff, no bueno in the muddy slick stuff

I agree with the muddy slick comment, add to that snow.  Having said that, I run a trials tire year round, it just takes a little more finesse and body english in the slick stuff.
