Picked up a Jewell.

Recommended Posts

Been looking for an early 80's model xr250r for a while now to add to my growing collection. No luck. Bout gave up when this one turns up two houses down the street. Never knew it was there. Got it for 400$. Look pretty sun beaten until I got it pressure washed. Cleaned the carb, new plug and air filter and adjusted the valves and it started first kick and thumps like a true xr. Probably will take it down this winter and do the top end and paint everything while its apart. Runs like a champ.

1986 xr250r

Yeah. Picked up the 97 xr200 about 7 months ago and just finished it up got my son. He took for the first trail ride just today. He had a blast. I think he realized what I had been trying to teach him about taking care of something older and making a good bike of it rather than plunking down 3grand for a new crf100 just because his friends have one. He couldn't get over how much better the suspension was over the newer bikes he had ridden. He smiled all day long and I did too. Job done in my book.
