Cr500 reeds

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, reeds are something that I'm not real familiar with, not exactly sure how they work etc. but is it worth changing mine? If so what should I change them to brands etc, also what changes will that make

Change reeds with every piston change or sooner.

If they are not perfect, they don't seal and you loose throttle control and power.

They don't have to be cracked visibly to not work.

Take out the cage, turn it upside down, and poor in water. If you leaks at a rate of more than one drop per 5 seconds, you need new reeds.

I just had it rebuilt but the guy said the reeds looked fine, might try that trick, thanks, any recommendations on what I replace them with?

The  V-Force reeds seem pretty good

Boyesen Pro Stock are great reeds and so are the 89 to 01 OEM reeds. I replaced mine with a RAD valve and I have also had a CR500 with vForce. Honestly the pro stock are just as good as any of the others. In fact I found them hit harder than the RAD valve.
