Does anyone know the name of this riding technique, I believe the roots are in

Splat, this is a slightly extreme example lol, something that can be used to help clear a log or a step up along the trail. Cool.

Trials riding really separates the men from the boys with regards to throttle/clutch/brake control and body position.

I will never cease to be amazed at what those guys are able to do on a bike.

And all I try to do is stay upright. LOL

Me too. I'm too old to do that kind of stuff but the physics of the splat are interesting;

Ground speed to build momentum

Ramp to launch the bike so the front wheel can contact the top of the wall, the front then continues over the top

Enough momentum to keep the rear tire against the wall for traction to finish the climb.

And they make it look so easy. :banghead:

Some more at about 2 minutes, as you can see and hear the clutches get a lot of abuse

I found that they aptly named the action splat ...Because if I attempted this that is what would happen.

Thanks Motovita, I am more interested in how some guys can take the smallest obstacle and turn it into a launch pad.

The Splatter maneuver can be performed from flat ground by a skilled rider.
