Clutch issues

I bought a new Barnett clutch kit. Included friction plates steel plates and springs.

Bolt it all back together. And the clutch won't disengage. Took it apart again and look closer and it looks the clutch stack is too tall.

S this common or a manufacture defect. Wrong plates?

I counted them carefully the second time I took it apart.

I ended up taking two steel plates out and putting two aluminum ones back and that got it close enough.

Any ideas?

Did the kit Come with the correct amount of steels and frictions?
