Tahuya trail bike

Hey tt'ers,

I have a dilemma. I am looking to get a new bike for riding single track an some open logging roads at tahuya state forest in Washington. I was looking at either a ktm 450 exc or a crf450x before I left for commercial fishing in Alaska. I was going to buy a 09 ktm 400 Xcw today for 4500 bucks but decided against it. I just rode a 07 drz400s and that was way too tall of gearing for tahuya. So what bike do I get? I'm 6'6" and 220lbs and just came off a xr250. Open to all suggestions.

You can always alter gearing to suit you .

Yep. No matter the color it will still need to be set up to suite you.

I am leaning more toward a crf450x or cr250. They are both in my price range and exceedingly cheaper than a KTM. If I don't  like one I'll sell it and get another. Never ridden a 2t and a lot of the enduro bikes are 2t ie the ktm 300

450X and the CR250 would both do very well. I own a 2000 CR250 and I love it for trail / woods riding. Just need to set it up to suit your riding style and tastes.
