Going2Stroke Posted September 25, 2013 I just purchaced a 97 rm250, the whole bike needs to be gone through but the motor is top of the list. It needs topend rebuild, just wasnt sure if i should spend the money on a new sleeve and piston kit through LA or just have a local machine shop bore it out. I think the exhaust valves might have been damaged also. Just not sure what im getting into.
Ryino Posted September 25, 2013 1. get a manual 2. replating the cylinder would be better than a sleeve.

717 MOTORSPORTS Posted September 25, 2013 X2. DO NOT sleeve cylinders, replate them. If the cylinder is already sleeved, then get it rebored, or replace the cylinder with a proper one
Theeebalz My Rides (5) Posted September 30, 2013 X2. DO NOT sleeve cylinders, replate them. If the cylinder is already sleeved, then get it rebored, or replace the cylinder with a proper one why dont? there's certain applications where it wont matter that much, the miniscule ammount of heat added will only effect youi if you run alot of really tight muddy enduro races.
