Cylinder plating

Anyone from Australia used Aurum plating in QLD? I need a cylinder redone and they are very well priced, I'm just worried about their quality.

Hey did you get this done? Would you be able to tell us how it went, what you paid, etc. It would be really handy to know.

I had to send a couple of cylinders to Powerseal USA and it looks like they did an awesome job. I ended up choosing them because there were quite a few complaints I saw about Electrosil that left me in doubt. So I went for someone cheaper and with a better rep. It's just postage that's the killer. There was also some place that was well respected in QLD (not Aurum) but the prices people paid were crazy.

No I ended up using NZ Cylinders across the ditch. Very helpful and cost was ok, I got my cylinder replated and matched to a Wossner piston kit for about $580 including all postage. I couldn't be happier so far and would use them again in a heartbeat. Electrosil wanted $630 just to do the cylinder!!

Good stuff! I saw those guys and wondered about them. I couldn't find a lot of info in the forums though. You did pretty well compared to the Nikasil replate specialist in QLD I was referring to. One guy I saw was happy that they replated his cylinder and supplied a piston and rod for a total of $800.

Just so anyone else reading this knows, here's the details of who I used, Powerseal USA. I bought my own stuff and stripped all parts myself, all they did was strip the Nikasil, replate, hone and match the size to pistons I sent to them. They relieved the exhaust bridges without having to be asked to, which is one reason I chose them, some replaters don't. I sent two 125cc jugs and it cost me I think it was about $180 each. Shipping was around $80 each way I think.
