at what speed do you generally ride on trails?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I just wanted to see what everyone's speed is while riding trails.

I know this is kinda geared toward those of us with some type of speedometer, but if you have a general idea, please feel free to contribute.

My speed(s):

At the end of a normal day of riding my trail tech will read an average speed of anywhere from 15-20 mph

On long smooth straights I'll do 50+ MPH

Long not so smooth 30-40 MPH

In technical areas I'll be between 15-30 MPH

Most of the time when I look at my speed I'm in the 20 MPH range +/- 2 or 3 MPH

I know there's a million other things to worry about than speed while on the trail. I'm just curious to see how others ride.

I'm probably pretty slow too, only been riding about 7 or 8 months.

Thanks everyone!

Depends on the trail.  On 50" ORV trail here I might average 30-35 mph on GPS. On hike-a-bike stuff out west I think we one time averaged 5.5 mph, although that did include stops.

When I was doing harescrambles and enduros it seemed no matter the course I'd always end up around 16-18 mph average.

 So you do have a camera!(if that is you) That is some gnarly stuff, I can't see being able to sit down on that stuff and still go fast. Any idea what you were avg on speed?
