kx 65 will only bump start when cold

I have a 2009 kx65. Runs great but when its cold I have to bump start it. If its been running it starts on the first kick every time. it has vforce reeds and an FMF full pipe. Everything else is stock I believe. I've cleaned the carb a couple of times. Nothing seems to help. Any advice would be appreciated.

This is very common.  Don't give it any gas when kicking it with the choke on.  For the longest time I just bump started it instead of kicking it a lot.  I had a kx85 that acted the same way.  Then I learned no gas when cold with choke on.

Check the compression.  That is a sign of worn out rings.

 

Also, my boy can't kick his over fast enough when cold, but it will light right up for me.  They like a fast kick.
