2005 YZ250 Stator Interchange?

Does anyone know if other year YZ250 stator will interchange with my 2005?

I'm looking for a stator for my 2005 YZ250 for a starting issue-takes excessive kicking speed to get a spark.

The part number for my 2005 only interchanges with the 2005 year. part # 5cu-85560-10. Yamaha has a different part number for 2006-current-5CU- 85560-20. For a 1999-2001 they have 5CU-85560-00. For 2002 they take a 5CU-85560-01. A 2003-2004 takes 5CU-85560-02.

What are the chances all these stators are the same? They seem to change the last two digits of the stator every few years.

I have manuals for a 2003 and 2005 yz250 and the resistenance specs are the same even though they have 2 different part numbers.

I'd appreciate any help

Thanks

Ryan

I'd check the parts numbers of the crank case, if the same the years should be function OK.

Man, I would think that they would all interchange! But that's just my guess.

I would think they should interchange as well. The 03 and 05 have the same resistance specs despite being two different part numbers. Usually the last two part numbers are for revisions, but its hard to believe they actually changed anything with the yz250.

Hell they never change anything on the yz250, why would they change the stator every few years!

They changed quite a bit, specially internal stuff like valving

IMO - 2000-2005 = 5CU-85560-10-00

They changed external things like suspension and fork and shock valving every few years, but the motor has been the same since 1999. 99 percent of the bike is the same since 06 except a few very minor valving changes handlebars wave rotors and fork guards. It really is a joke compared to the yz 4 strokes which change yearly

Around 5 years ago the pulse generator broke off it's mounting tab in my 2002 YZ250P. I replaced the entire assembly (plate, pickup, stator) with the used parts from a 2005. I own a 2010 model also, and they are the same and have the same winding resistance. The connector may have changed between 2005 and my 2010, I haven't checked. I'll try to get a look at both of them (2005 & 2010) in a bit.

Both connectors are identical. I compared the one on my 2010 YZ250Z and the 2005 assembly that is installed on my 2002 bike. It stands to reason that at least 2002 - 2010 are compatible.

That is great. I appreciate the help cwtoyota. I've had a tough time finding another 05 stator. I find it hard to believe they changed the stator when the rest of the bike didn't change.
