Finally got my 16t front sprocket

only took three weeks from Xrs only. I installed it and even though I am happy with the result, I may do a 40t rear. I got about 8mph at cruise RPMs more than with the 15t.

I'm running a 40 and will definitely get a 16 loads of passing power left with the 15.

They (XR400) were sold overseas as dual sports with 15/40 gearing as stock. That would be roughly the same as 16/42. Keep a 14T with you and you can swap back to stock gearing ratio (3:1) for extended off road sections if you want.

Here's a data point.  I'm running a 16/42, stock motor, 8000 ft, mt43 which is tall, and its the max.  I tried a 39 and it flat-out would not pull it with any uphill or wind.

Yeah, I think a 42 is smallest I might go. Seems to be the DS set up and I will carry a 15 or 14 with me in the tool bag.
