Suggestions on KTM125sx project?

Recommended Posts

    Got a killer deal on a 07 KTM 125!

The bottom end went out after a top end rebuild. The guy had the motor out and split the cases attempting to fix it himself. I thought I'd take it off his hands and do a crank/rod kit. Altho, I was thinking while the cases are split, Is it possible to do a 150 conversion? Or would it not even be worth it?

Feedback is good!  :D

You can convert to a 144, which is just the top end, but the internals of the newer 150 engine will not fit.

Ktm did not just change the bore size to achieve the 144 size ! they also stroked the crank

125  is 54mm x 54.5mm

!44 is 56mm x 58.5mm so it is not just a top end swap !!!

So she's a stroked out as well, not a just a big bore

Is the difference in torque profound, or hardly noticeable?

Edit: Is it possible to make it a 200? as you always hear about how the 200 is 'just a big bore 125'
