Shock clicking

Recommended Posts

Just had my shock rebuilt on my 01 CR 500 (finally). Went on 2 good rides on it. Washed it and have it sitting in my garage. Took it off the stand and there is a clicking noise now. I was trying to find out where the noise was coming from and realized it is sticking now in the "sag position". Please help. Going for a ride next to weekends. Not a suspension-ologist!!!

Have you checked the condition of your shock linkage and swingarm bushings and bearings? They may be corroded and binding up inside,

Great call. I greased up the linkage/bearings and the stick and squeaking went away. Thanks a lot. Almost started crying!

You might want to check the stearing stem bearings though they aren't quite as exposed as the linkage/swingarm. The heim joints at the ends of the shock can get loose and click just a little too if you really want to make it tight.
