cr250 brake pad pin

I've got a 2000 cr250 and im doing a brake pad job on it and that brake pad pin is on really tight and im just messing up the flat head groove. Any suggestions to getting this thing out or is it going to be a drill and re-tap.

If its not already too far gone you may have some luck removing it with an impact screwdriver. The thing your trying to remove now is just a cap that covers the actual pin that holds the brake pads in.

try heating caliper with a propane torch.heat around threaded cap not the cap it self.these caps get corroded from water and the fact they are steel and the caliper is alunimum ? hell i cant spell

Once you get it out, get one of these:

If you are replacing the rear brakes, they make pins for that too.  I replaced all of mine with these specifically because of the problem you are having with yours.
