Cylinder painting

Just curious if Kawasaki has always left their cylinders bare. It looks like some of the earlier models (02 and down) were painted. Or is that just aging on them?

Its paint. Another member here found a perfect match I used on my 94 build.

I believe some of the 80s kdx's came stock with black paint, I could be wrong though

Where can u get high temp engine paint that u can shoot yourself? When u pull a head, or rebuild the top end do u have to respray? I feel like if u painted it then pulled the cylinder when u put it back on there would be a hairline crack that u would see. Also does anyone have pics of newer style (03-07) kx engines painted? Like in the bike preferably.

Hmmm it looks good i was thinkin like black. I guess u could get the high temp engine enamel in black.
