Tires?

Recommended Posts

S or SM? Are you looking for a street tire that can go in the dirt or a dirt tire that is good on the street?

SM mostly street but occasional dirt nothing crazy on the dirt!

Maybe look at the Avon Distanzia's or the Shinko 705's. Both are good on the street with enough grip offroad for mild trails and such. If you really want to be cool, get Shinko 244's they are what I have and I love them. For my riding style, they do great on the pavement and I have never had any issues. For offroad, they do just fine.

Shinko's are well priced...Avon's IMO are over priced.....

From what I understand, The only down side to shinko 705 that they don't make a front specific tyre in a 17", so you use a rear for the front....usually rear specific tyres run a harder compound..In certain conditions it may be a safety issue in relation to grip factor....

You are limited on tyre choice for dual purpose in a 17", period

Ok Pirelli....maybe something like this would suit as a front.....http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/5425/i/pirelli-mt-60-r-dual-sport-front-tire and rear http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/5426/i/pirelli-mt-60-r-dual-sport-rear-tire

or to go a bit cheaper for the rear ...http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/5436/i/pirelli-mt-90-scorpion-a-t-enduro-rear-tire

these tyres have very good on road grip...

I like Michelin PR 3's great tire so far.  I ran a PR 2 on back before with a PP on the front.  The front shagged out way before the rear though.  They'd be okay on hard packed not too sure about gravel, but the pattern is the same as the trails so prolly okay.

That said I commute on mine, with only occasional twisties, and in the summer heat here sport tires just melt.

Michelin pilots? I think they have good grip on road and last very long! I think my front pilot lasted 8000miles and it still wasnt bold. Also they are okay in dirt but like any street tyre not ment for it ahah :)
