It's offically riding season in our So Cal deserts. :ride:

If your happy and you know it pop your clutch (Braaaap) (Braaaap) if your happy and you know it your speed will shurely show it if your happy and you know it pop your clutch (Braaaap) (Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap).

Let's see if we can get some riding reports on some of the desert area's that we all love to ride.

Weather report

Closed area's

Conditions of the area

etc etc.

I think we all know that Spangler and Death Valley took a hard hit from the flash floods. Sand hills got screwed, but then again it just makes it more challenging.

Cal city looked like it took a beating from the rains. That lower whooped out pos trail in the rands is graded fire road smooth now. Off ribbon riding there is still good tho

JV took a hit from the rains too but it made it better actually. Haven't been anywhere else

There are some cross ruts out there now that will swallow a front tire in a hurry, stay alert, lots has changed since last spring. We had several massive flash flood storms throughout the summer that really changed the landscape of the desert. The EL Paso's got hammered bigtime.

Like DD said, hugh cross ruts, even at the bottom of the sand hills. Hard to stop when coming down the hill and so see a 3' wide 3' deep gap at the bottom. You can't grab a hand full of throttle cause your still going down hill.

That being said, it adds a whole new dimension to them which makes for some great photo ops. :-)

keep the camera rollin!  new obstacles everywhere... none of the singletrack got washed out at sunfair, but lots of rocks seem to have rolled onto the trail... could use some trail maintenance... lots of the waterfall routes are drastically either better fun or better to make you say, "My bike just went down THAT?!"

Headed to Ocotillo Wells tomorrow..  Expect to see the normal water/wind wear and terror.. Its usually the more technical mud hill single track that can sneak up on you..

It was 6 years ago that I was riding a tire wide ridge that I knew and when it ended it was a near vert drop that was fun as hell, but this time the trail had fallen leaving nothing ..  So I rolled up to the drop and by the time I realized there was no longer anything there It was too late and had to wheelie off and soak up a 15-17' flat land.. Rode away from it and rode for anther hour even.. but that was the start of my back problems..Couldnt move for two weeks after I packed up and left for home. I now get the epidural spinal injections regularly.  Took a trail for granted and it bit me in the ass, well the back anyway !

Anyone else gonna be on OW this weekend ???

Just returned from a 3 day ride, staged in Wagon Wheel Park in Spangler Hills Area. Daytime temps were mid 70s, nights down to the forties. Rode to the Husky Monument, X 15 Crash set, Smitty's mine, 200 plus miles. Rain ruts have been pretty much ridden flat, but still be on the lookout as one of our party was riding in the right edge of the Pipeline trail and was unpleasantly surprised when he went into a four foot vertical wash.....He and the bike were OK fortunately.......My first dez trip, was awesome!

I want to go to El Mirage if I can get a ride. My dad says he might take me for a day.
