Not much activity on this thread lately! Where is everyone? I assume riding the snot out of their drz's!

Or improving them. Spaced out the exhaust end cap by a washer, going to cut open the air box, and got new jets to richen things up some.

On mine, I cut the stock can just about in half and welded it back together. Sounds better. Prob need to change the jet out though.

In the middle of moving into a new house that has a real back yard . Large enough that I'll be able to ride my DRZ without the police chasing me

I had a 88 LX once. Made a great parts car for my AMC:p

Still have nightmares about those cheesy little drum brakes on the back and a fast approaching downhill corner.

I'm actively blowing job interviews, like the phone interview I just had with MapQuest 20 minutes ago. Everything was going great, then I bombed it big time. Oh well, there will be other gigs...

I check this forum about once a week or so, but mostly dont have any issues.  Except....  hard to start.  What is the goto for that?  I dont have estart so I have to kick and kick.  I recently adjusted the valves, ground the exhaust weld and removed the snorkel.  Still hard to start.  Figure I will follow the guide and up the jets soon.  Anything else to suggest?

Clean the carb.

Fresh gas.

New plug/correct gap.

Drill the mixture screw cap and adjust the screw.

Kick harder.

Keep the throttle closed when you're kicking. (lots of people have learned to do this to compensate for crapped up pilot jets. It draws fuel from the main instead so it starts. Once running near idle speed there's now sufficient vacuum to pull fuel through the pilot jet.)

 

Still plenty of things to try.
