Hydraulic brake switch

Has anybody had any issues with hydraulic brake switches suddenly not working? Or should I look elsewhere for the culprit? The tail light still works but no brake light.

use a voltmeter and start chasing the conections from the lightbulb socket back

a tester is your friend

but try the front and rear brake to see if the bulb illuminates in either situation this can help isolate   and confirm the bulb circuit

maybe the same guy supplies Grandpa with Quaaludes ?

LOL

Sounds good, I'll try it with a tester first and see what I can find

If you have an air bubble in the brake system, it increase the amount of brake pressure required to activate the switch.

A jumper wire between the two sides of the switch will tell you if the problem is the switch.

how do I do that? Do I just jump the two wires and press the brake and watch the tester?

Just for clarification, I'm an electrical ritard. Pardon my ignorance.

'Twas the switch. That didn't last long.

Hydraulic switches seem to have limited life expectancy.  Rockymountainatv has cheap replacements.  You want one for a Japanese thread spec.

that's a sweet deal considering I just paid $24 local, bonk! I think I'm gonna order an extra for those long rides next season.
