Stock exhaust mod?

My bike is completely stock and I want a bit more noise for when I am racing as I can't hear the engine when up against other bikes.

I tried it without out the baffle but it was too much. Was considering cutting the baffle down slightly.

Has anyone done this and what were your thoughts?

I don't want to buy another exhaust or do the airbox mod

04-07 250X:   Remove the baffle, look at the 2 flat black discs (part furthest from the exit hole) they are attached to a small diameter pipe/tube with a couple holes in it.  Take a hacksaw, cut that pipe/tube at the holes.  Discard the short pipe with the 2 flat discs attached.  Reinstall the now shortened exhaust insert.

Result, a bit louder than stock but very reasonable sound and better flow.

Or you can get a 08-13 stock muffler endcap off ebay.  They are a bit more open then the stock earlier model endcap.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking but wanted to see if someone had done it before I cut it down.

I'll do some before and afters with a db meter I have on my phone

please post your dBa readings!

I tried that with my phone but the phone (not the app) was limited to 90dB.

I've checked and mine goes up to 120db

My iPhone app stock without the baffle read 98db. I don't know about the accuracy but the customer ratings stated that the app was spot on with a pro meter. The app was "Decibel 10th" for iPhone (free).
