What do your boots weigh?

Recommended Posts

OK, current topic about Best Offroad Boots preceeds this one.  Comment was made about one pair of boots being really heavy and another was much better.  But no specifics.  It shouldn't take long to fill in the details on most currently available models and maybe some older models also?

Good time to start a simple database.

1 What brand and size are your boots?

2 What size are they?

3 What do they weigh?  Clean without last weeks mudpack! :naughty:

4 Are they smooth soled MX style or Lug style offroad?

5 Are they easy to walk around in?

6 Did they break in easy?

Thanks,

Swiss

1 What brand and style are your boots?
   Gaerne SG 10's
2 What size are they?
    11
3 What do they weigh? Clean without last weeks mudpack!
I would guess about 5 to 5.5 pounds each, but I don't have a scale
4 Are they smooth soled MX style or Lug style offroad?
Smooth sole, with "ribs" for gripping pegs
5 Are they easy to walk around in?
Very, Haven't tried in pure mud though
6 Did they break in easy?

One ride! And they are oh so comfortable. My first ride in them was at the Dessert 100, riding the 70 mile poker run, after about 15 minutes, I didn't even think about them, they are just that comfortable. I used to have Comp 5's, they are like tennis shoes when walking in them, but when riding, they make your feet and ankles tired, the Gaerne's are a little harder to walk in, but while riding....they are awesome!

NO. I HAVE OVER 400HRS ON THESE BOOTS AND THEY'RE STILL STIFF. THAT BEING SAID THEY HAVE HELD UP WELL WITH LITTLE SIGNS OF SLOWING DOWN.

those Forma's look outstanding! Can you give more details to likes/dislikes of those? Is the lack of "break in" a problem or a plus?

That's dirty, with a bit of elbow grease they would look brand new....As for break-in time, probably close to 30hrs before they really loosened up but they still feel stiff compared to anything else I have use. Including Fox, Sidi and Garne.

Other then the weight (I don't know if 5lbs is heavy in a boot but it just seems heavy to me) and possibly the bulk (they feel wide in the ankle section) they are outstanding boots.

The booties have held up extremely well too....

The hinge does squeak when you walk but not crazy enough for me to do anything about them.....

There is a section near the hinge that did split but Forma sent me a new piece that I have not installed....

They still have the original sole and steel toe....

OK Guys, we have 1 weight and comments for the Forma boots.  I am sure that there are more of you out there that have a small scale in the shop.  Guessing weights isn't very helpful and pretty inaccurate so those of you have have a scale, check it out and report what you find.  I might as well add my old boots to the list.

Thanks,

Swiss
