Well after at least a year of riding different bikes models and just about everything under the sun I bought a bike. The current state of my 03 turned dire. It's the begging of the racing season and I cannot keep up with the repairs from a moral stand point anymore and the poor old girl is so loose sometimes I wondered If the wheels where falling off. So after being frustrated as hell for quite sometime I was looking around on craiglist and I found a bike that called to me. I cannot quite say what it was, It could be I was thinking about how I wanted to take a hammer to my 03 and how I was thinking how I don't know what to buy and then it hit me, Keep it simple stupid, Stay YAMAHA YZ it's what you know and like. So I called the guy and inquired about hours and what not and it all sounded good and I was on my way. Upon meeting the guy it was clear he was a 3 big weekend a year rider and after a check over the bike I was assured it was most likely under 40hrs without a problem. He was asking 3500 for it and I got him down to 3200 without killing him. To be honest now that I have it home and have tore it down I ALMOST fell like sending the guy another hundred bucks. On my way home I called my suspension tuner and lined up a meeting for tomorrow morning. In pulling all the suspenders off I realized there was no tool marks on any of the bolts on the front end, even the axle. Upon pulling the rear shock I found the top and bottom shock bolts have basically no wear on them where the shock rotates on them. Over all the bike has some scratches from some tip overs and dumps, but mechanical it is as if the bike has about 10 hours on it. To say the least I'm very, very happy. So much so I thought I would share. Specs as far as mods, current FMF Mega bomb Ti header. FMF 4.1rct Ti muffler along with ti mid pipe. Both in very close to new condition. FMF Jet kit. I'm not much for jet kits and I think I will put it back to stock. As my 03 with FMF set up runs great with stock jetting except a one size larger pilot. Future mods, Reckluse clutch I want to investigate pulling the one out of my 03 Stabilizer Gpr v4 Desert tank Skid plate New flex bars, the ones on my 03 are as wore out as the rest of the bike. 06 clutch mod, need to investigate how that will pan out with reckluse. 18" rear wheel, I just found out that the 09 has a larger axle so maybe have to lace one up. Any advice is greatly appreciated as far as how to desert sled this bad boy out.
